Victorian Cranberry Glass Decanter

c. 1880 · England

$325 CAD

This piece is available at $325 CAD. Delivery anywhere in Canada is already in that price — there is nothing extra to pay.

Paying by card on the site is not switched on yet, so I arrange each sale myself: write to me and I will confirm the piece is still here, photograph it for you, put it on hold while you think, and tell you how to pay. I will say in that note exactly how to pay and what the total is, and nothing is paid until you have agreed it. I will never ask you for a card number, and I will never ask you to pay in gift cards.

I am Sally, and I answer every message myself, usually within a day or two. If you need it by a particular day — a birthday, a wedding — tell me the date in your note and I will say straight away whether it can be done. Outside Canada? Write anyway and I will quote the carriage honestly before you commit to anything.

About this piece

Hand-blown cranberry glass with a cut clear stopper; it is a good period match but I cannot promise it is the one it left the works with. Holds about a litre. There is a pontil mark under the base and a faint spiral in the body where the glass was turned. No chips, no cracks, no cloudiness inside.

Where it came from

Cranberry glass gets its colour from gold, which is why the Victorians charged a fortune for it and why it still looks like nothing else when the sun comes through a window.
